The history of Northwestern Technical College of California (NWT) can be traced to the Northwest University in Chicago which started at 1851. A group of Northwest alumni who moved to California gathered to plan the Northwestern Technical College in Sacramento, the capital of California, to bring technology, innovation and business management to the state.

NWT now has facilities in Sacramento, Silicon Valley and Los Angeles areas offering advanced education in Business Management, Computer Science, Applied Psychology, drawing faculty and students all over the world. NWT started offering its programs to international students with online and hybrid classes in 2015.
